Woodford
Woodford 22- Blackheath 52 An "away-day" on the edge of Epping Forest started with Blacks having a squad of only 17 players and lacking some front-row cover with Adam being unavailable.
However the match started brightly with Blacks scoring two tries under the posts within the first two minutes. Unfortunately neither was converted by Michael. Woodford then responded with a hard-won try in the corner courtesy of their powerful pack.
There then followed a blitz by Blacks who ran in 3 further tries against conceding one with Ed scoring a trademark winger's try and Mayoolua (2) scoring from long-range all over the field, he became a real threat to the opposition who targeted him if they could get near. By this time Tom Williams had taken over the kicking (very successfully) from Leo whose one attempt went over (just). The half-time score was 31 - 10 to the Blacks.
The second half was tighter with tries for both sides but the Blacks still outscored Woodford by 3 tries to 2 with Tom maintaining his 100% record by kicking all the conversions. Mayoolua scored (again) as did Sam and Alan, playing at centre, received a lovely pass from Tim, to score under the posts from 25 yards out.
Try scorers: Mayoolua (5), Ed, Sam, Alan Conversions : Leo, Tom (6) Final score: 52 -22.
